The Turkish Directorate of Communications launched a campaign called “Hello Türkiye” in order to more effectively announce the use of the country’s national and international name as “Türkiye” in international media.
The promotional video, prepared within the scope of efforts to strengthen the Turkish brand, was also shared on the social media accounts of the Directorate of Communications.
In the promotional video, there were images of foreign tourists in different parts of Turkey sending their messages by saying “Hello Türkiye” in their own pronunciation.
The video in question interacts in many countries with global influencers’ “#helloTürkiye” hashtags and social media posts.
With the campaign, it is aimed to use the phrase “Türkiye” by preventing foreigners from using the name Turkey in different languages over social media.
In this context, foreign press consultants operating under the Directorate of Communications also carry out various activities to announce the campaign.
In his assessment on the subject, Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun reminded that a circular was published in December, with the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, for the use of Turkey’s name only as “Türkiye” in international media.
Stating that this decision is an important step towards the goal of establishing a unity of discourse and strengthening the Turkish brand in the international arena, Altun emphasized that Turkey strengthens itself and identity in language and communication.
“We will strengthen the Turkish brand together”
Stating that they will establish a Turkish Brand Office to strengthen the Turkish brand, Altun noted that this office will work in the field of Turkey’s global brand identity and contribute to the strengthening of the country’s image and brand value.
Pointing out that the office in question will work with the private sector and public institutions and organizations, Altun said, “Of course, it is very important for every segment of our society to show sensitivity and support here. We will name our country in the works, correspondences, activities and organizations of our public institutions, NGOs, academia, press. It is very important for us that they use and pronounce them as ‘Türkiye’. We can strengthen the Turkish brand all over the world by acting in a total manner.”
