Asylum seeker applications is rising in Europe

According to a statement made by the European Statistics Office for the year 2016, a total of 988,000 asylum seekers applied to the EU countries in the first three months of last year.

According to the report of the European Statistical Office (EUROSTAT), the total number of applications for asylum seekers for 28 EU member states has increased rapidly and has reached the one million limit.

The reports reveals that claims of asylum in Turkey from Germany are three times higher than in the previous year in 2016.

For Germany in the first nine months of 2016, 612 thousand asylum application has been realized.

The second country that received the most asylum applications in the EU was Italy with 85 thousand people, followed by France with 63 thousand applications for asylum.

Greece, received 30,000 applications for asylum.

Austria, on the other hand, paid attention to another problem with asylum seekers.

Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz has put an economic sanction card on the asylum application for those countries that do not accept their rejected citizens. Speaking to the German Spiegel magazine, Kurz suggested reducing development aid to these countries.
