According to the Thomson Reuters Foundation survey, Istanbul ranks 10th among the most dangerous megacities for women. In the danger of sexual violence and harassment, it is the worst city among the 19 cities.

380 experts were interviewed in 19 large cities with a population of over 10 million people between 1 June and 28 July.
In these cities, sexual violence against women, harmful cultural practices, health services and women’s economic power and access to education were examined.
According to the poll, the most dangerous mega-city in the world for women is Egypt’s capital Cairo.
Cairo is followed by Pakistan’s Karachi, Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and India’s capital, New Delhi.
The safest cities for women are London, Tokyo and Paris.
Istanbul is the 6th worst city in the world for women in terms of rape, sexual assault and harassment.
In cultural practices such as female circumcision, child brides, and child killing, Istanbul is the 8th place is among the worst cities.
Istanbul is ranked 8th in terms of access to financial services, possession of land or property.
Istanbul is 13th the worst city in terms of access to women’s health services.
As a result of the research, the worst-to-best cities for women were ranked as follows:
Cairo, Karachi, Kinshasa, Delhi, Lima, Mexico, Dhaka, Lagos, Jakarta, Istanbul, Sao Paolo, Buenos Aires, New York, Manila, Shanghai, Moscow, Paris, Tokyo and London.
