One of the most important routes for refugees to move to western Europe, Hungary has gone further by building a razor-wire fence to the 175-kilometer border with Hungary and Serbia.
It is reported that Hungary has built razor-wire fence on the 175-kilometer border of Hungary and Serbia to stop the refugee movement.
The European Union (EU) endorsed the continuation of border controls by hanging Schengen for 3 more months to prevent refugees from entering the EU territory.
The EU Council has accepted the proposal by the Schengen area members Germany, Austria, Denmark, Sweden and Norway to take another three months of border control. As a result, the application which has been active since last year and has just end ended on February 12 has been extended for another 3 months.
Border checks are expected to be extended every 3 months until the general election in Germany on September 24th.
Amnesty International also published a report on Europe’s attitude towards refugees. In its report, the organization criticized the policy of closing European Union members’ doors after a recent influx of refugees to Europe.
In report it is stated that the member countries, along with the refugees crisis, had taken 325 kilometers of barbed-wire line on their border and that the cost of these wire lines was more than 175 million euros. Amnesty International also stressed that the wire lines had forced refugess to find different and more dangerous routes.
