UK officials said that UK wanted the negotiations between Turkey and the European Union to continue.
Alan Duncan, the UK’s Minister for Europe and the United States, has commented on his Twitter account after the EU General Affairs Council meeting in Brussels today.
Duncan, speaking of the meeting of the EU ministers concerned with the future of Turkey’s accession negotiations, strongly argued that “Tight relations with Turkey must be protected.”
Today in Brussels, there is no common decision on enlargement in the meeting, which took place about 5 hours. Austria, opposed to membership negotiations with Turkey, has vetoed the conclusion statement because it did not include the statement “Freezing of membership negotiations with Turkey”.
